Doughnuts are apparently a BIG DEAL. Where we were living this summer, there was a doughnut shop on every corner. One day, someone said “Did you hear they are building a new doughnut shop down the road?!?” I was like… um… ok.
Ok… I’ll admit it… I’m a little bitter. I am gluten free and most of those places don’t have gluten free doughnuts… so I just couldn’t get on board with the excitement.

I have to be passionate about childhood cancer… because 9 months ago, childhood cancer rocked our world. My little girl was diagnosed with a brain tumor. A series of events landed us rather quickly at St. Jude in Memphis. Before that point, I didn’t even know where St. Jude was!

Apples are all the rage where we live. Our town in famous for the yearly Apple Festival. There is no shortage of apple orchards throughout the county.
My daughter who has been going through chemo this summer at St. Jude has been planning her birthday, which is on Monday. We are still waiting for the all clear to leave St. Jude and go home… we are hoping to make it home for her birthday. Some of her plans include apple picking and eating apple cider doughnuts…. if you haven’t… you should… seriously!

I often see the question, “What do I need to get started in my planner?” come up in Planner Groups on Facebook.
Well… the planner world can be quite intimidating. You get on Instagram and see all these fun layouts that looks like a scrapbook factory vomited all over someone’s planner. You think … yes! I want Scrapbook Vomit! My life will not be complete until I have it!!!
And then you get your new planner… and it’s empty… a vast blankness stares back at you and you get scared… and close it… and wonder what you’ve gotten yourself into.

Do you love the Olympics? I do!
I’m reading a biography on Eric Liddell to the kids right now. He was a gold medalist runner in the 1924 Olympics in Paris, representing Great Britain. At that time, athletes were responsible for getting their own ride to and from events. Some athletes missed their events because they couldn’t find a ride! The 1924 Olympics were the first time Great Britain paid for accommodations for their athletes. What a contrast to today’s Olympics!
